Herin Mine
The chalcopyrite deposit was already being exploited in ancient times, documents from the early 1700s attest to the start of mining activities.
Various disputes between the Challant and Perrone families, and the wrong choice of mining techniques, heavily affected the mine's productivity for almost two centuries.
It was only at the beginning of the 20th century, after the property issues had been resolved and the facilities closed, that mining began on a more industrial scale, with the construction of a building to house the miners, a mechanical workshop, compressed air pumping machinery and a cableway for transporting ore to Fabbrica.
